Immigration will be on the agenda on the South Coast of NSW next week, as officers from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) visit Nowra on June 8.
The visit, at Nowra Neighbourhood Centre, will include individual meetings as well as a public information session that will cover a range of different migration and visa issues.
A DIAC spokesperson said the department’s regional visits program enables people outside the major capital cities to sit down and talk in person with an immigration officer about specific issues they may face.
“These visits attract a range of people, from community groups to small business owners, to students and individuals, who might want specific information or just someone to talk them through a complex matter,” the spokesperson said.
“While the department has a great deal of information available over the phone and on the Internet, some people may not be aware of recent policy changes or they may prefer to speak to officers face-to-face, and these visits meet those needs.
“In the past, the most popular topics related to citizenship, work visas, visas for family members and spouse sponsorship.”
