Outreach officers from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will run seminars in Mackay about temporary and permanent skilled migration on August 4 and 5.
A DIAC spokesman said that the information sessions will provide details on the range of visa options available.
“Officers will also give an update on recent changes to the 457 visa program, employer obligations and paths to permanent residence,” he said.
“While the department has a range of information available about visas online, outreach visits give people who live in regional areas the opportunity to discuss issues they may have face-to-face.”
The first information session on August 4 is for international workers and will take place at Mackay Regional Council’s Administration Building, on the corner of Gordon and Wellington Streets, starting at 5.30pm.
The second, on August 5, is for employers and potential employers of international workers, and will start at 5.30pm at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland, Level 1, Waterfront Commercial Building, Mulherin Drive.
