The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has appointed a new public affairs officer, Cian Manton, to its Western Australian state office.

Ms Manton has more than 12 years’ experience as a media and corporate communications specialist.

She was formerly the Director, Media for DIAC, responsible for media liaison, issues management and proactive promotion of the portfolio.

Before joining the department in 2004 and undertaking a range of public affairs roles, Ms Manton was a journalist, working at a number of WA newspapers.

She has also undertaken a senior media and parliamentary management role at Medicare Australia.

Ms Manton started in Perth last week.
